City begins documenting historic resources of South Salem!
In early 2019, the City began the first phase of a project to survey the historic buildings, landscapes and objects of South Salem. With help from a preservation consultant, this phase will culminate in approximately 100 historic resources documented on inventory forms. These forms will include current photographs, historic images, architectural descriptions and historic significance statements. The project was partially funded by a Survey & Planning Grant from the Massachusetts Historical Commission. Planning Staff met with the South Salem Neighborhood Association (SSNA) on March 19th to provide information about the project and to seek historic images and information on buildings in the area. See below for SSNA presentation material or click here for a list of properties to be documented.
